Jinsha (Gold Sand) Spring in Changxing

The Jinsha Spring is located on the eastern foot of Mt. Guzhu in Changxing County of Zhejiang Province. Mt. Guzhu is the place of origin of the Zisun Tea, the earliest tribute tea in Chinese history. According to historical records, to get the true taste of the Zisun tribute tea, you have to cook the tea with the water from the Jinsha Spring, hence the saying of Guzhu Tea, Jinsha Water. After the Zisun Tea was chosen as a tribute tea, the water from the Jinsha Spring was also chosen as a tribute water. In the Tang Dynasty (618 - 907), when tributes were presented at the Qingming Festival, the water from the Jinsha Spring was bottled and sent to the capital Chang'an (present-day Xi'an City of Shaanxi) together with the Zisun Tea.

The Jinsha Spring is surrounded by mountains on three sides, which isolates it from surface water source. The mouth of the Jinsha Spring happens to be in the granite stratum and the land surface is made of alluvial gravels. In addition, the ground is covered with dense vegetation. Such ideal natural environment and geological condition guarantee the formation of the high-quality water of the Jinsha Spring.
