In spite of that, some of the best black teas in the world are found there. The appellation Gong Fu is reserved for the highest-quality teas from Yunnan. teas that have a right to this appellation are characterized by the abundance of bud's produced by the trees. The Yunnan Hong Gong Fu comes from high-attitude plantations in the Simao region. The leaves are carefully picked in early spring and are only slightly oxidized before being manually dried by pressing in a large heated steel vat.

Tasting notes: The leaves bear an abundance of beautiful golden buds. The gentle twisted shapes release suave aromas of blond tobacco, caramel and scorched earth. The red-orange liquid has a marmalade nose. The mouthfeel is round and slightly sweet. Aromas of tobacco, exotic wood and ripe apricot spread their fullness through the mouth. The long, rich finish is remarkably comforting.

Recommended infusion accessory: A Yixing teapot or a zhong.
