Gongfu Tea Art originated in Chaozhou, Guangdong Province, and is one of the most representative forms of Chinese tea culture. The Japanese tea ceremony and Taiwanese tea culture both trace their roots to Chaozhou Gongfu Tea.
In the Chaozhou dialect, “Gongfu” means being meticulous and thoughtful in one’s actions. In tea culture, it refers to the careful way of brewing and tasting tea, with strict attention to teaware, tea leaves, water quality, brewing method, and flavor.
