Hui Mengchen is a very important potter in history of Yixing Zisha teapots. Especially in southern Fujian, people drunk tea with Mengchen pot mostly, and Chaozhou people drunk the Kongfu tea as same. We can know the public accord great importance to Hui Mengchen in southern Fujian and Chaozhou regions.

There were lots of styles of purple clay teapots in Kangxi Period in Qing Dynasty, In the early of Qing Dynasty, passed the transition of Shunzhi Period, the political power went to steady gradually, the social economy continued to developing, regions south of the Yangtze River restarted to flourish. The shape of purple clay teapots at this time, got a rich decorative style, with unprecedented order by royal court and exports. Because of the own traditional building former style, lots of potters had been influenced by this massive style,, Hui Mengchen was one of them.

In this three hundred years, the teapots with inscriptions of "Mengchen" never stopped producing, they just want to one style of the true pots for catering the need of market, not for imitated the realistic pots.

In 16th Octomber, 1995, when workers were digging foundations for buildings at Zengjiatang in Wuhu City, Anhui Province, they discovered a broken purple clay teapot with an inscription of "made by Hui Mengchen" under the ground 7-8 meters approximately. There is a small triangle broken mouth on the body with no cover, no flow-mouth. It is 13.7cm H, its caliber is 8.2 cm, thick as 0.35 cm,capacity is about 800 milliliter. The color is hepatic on the surface, the base is coarse, with yellow stains decorated in the base of body, three raised line design decorated on the upside of belly, and bottom is added, with an inscription of "made by Hui Mengchen at Jingxi in Renchen Middle-autumn".

According to the shape of this pot, it should be a middle size pot, simple and unsophisticated, generous. Even the surface was processed exquisitely, but there was no any wrapped slurry on the surface,and the processing of inside of pot was simple without scraping by tool, the trace of slurry can be seen clearly. The shape is irregular square, the writing style and script method were especially Kangxi Period style.

Recent years, the region of southern Fujian and Chaoshan, always unearthed a few small red clay teapots, some of them were not the Yixing red clay teapots,they belonged to the imitations of local red clay teapots. They used the local clay materials and throwing moulding. The brush trace were kept on the surfece after fired, and the color was similar to the Yixing red clay teapots, because its firing temperature was not as high as Yixing red clay teapot, m if used it for a long time, the slurry will drop off and distinguish between inside and outside colors, Some of them were imitated the inscription of Yixing style, both seals and inscriptions included the Mengchen teapots, but some of them were added the flower pattern was a particular inscription, it was differ from Yixing inscriptions, collectors should be pay attention to the different characteristics between Chaoshan teapots and Yixing teapots.
